Learn how to match Stefan Feld City Collection coin sets to the right game, check compatibility before you buy, and upgrade your board game currency with confidence.
Quick answer
Match the coin set to the exact Stefan Feld City Collection title you own. Each Coin Set - Stefan Feld City Collection is thematically designed for a specific game in the SFCC series, so treating them as universal upgrades leads to mismatched art and unusable denominations. Check the game name on the product listing before you buy, and use the Deluxe UpgradeKit - Stefan Feld City Collection only for Hamburg, Amsterdam, New York City, and Marrakesh.
Why SFCC coin sets are not one-size-fits-all
The Stefan Feld City Collection spans multiple standalone games, and the metal coin upgrades are produced per title. A coin set made for one city carries that game's visual theme and denomination mix, which means it may not match the currency values or player counts of another SFCC box. Before buying, confirm the exact game name in the product title or option menu. If the listing does not name your game, do not assume it works. The absence of a universal compatibility chart is a real limitation, so treat each coin set as a title-specific accessory.
What to verify before adding a coin set to your cart
Start with the game name, then check the option type. The Coin Set product uses a Spiel option, meaning you select the specific SFCC title the coins are made for. The Deluxe UpgradeKit also uses a Spiel option, but its catalog facts limit it to Hamburg, Amsterdam, New York City, and Marrakesh. If you own Nassau - SFCC 7, the upgrade kit is not listed for that game, so the coin set is the relevant metal upgrade to investigate. Never buy based on a generic photo alone.
How to upgrade your board game currency without wasting money
Metal coins change how a game feels in hand, and the SFCC coin sets are described as detailed, thematically designed, and made of solid metal. That tactile upgrade matters most for games where coins are handled constantly. If your SFCC game uses cardboard tokens for money, a matching coin set is a focused upgrade. If your game already includes premium currency or does not use coins, skip it. The catalog does not state coin counts or denominations, so verify those details on the product page if they affect your decision.
Step-by-step: match a coin set to your SFCC game
- Identify your exact SFCC title: Write down the full game name from your box, such as Hamburg, Amsterdam, New York City, Marrakesh, or Nassau - SFCC 7. Do not rely on memory or a series logo alone. Checkpoint: if you cannot name the title, stop and check the box before shopping.
- Open the coin set listing and read the option: The Coin Set - Stefan Feld City Collection uses a Spiel option. Select the game name that matches your box. If your game is not listed, the set is not confirmed for it. Common mistake: choosing a coin set because the photo looks good without confirming the game name.
- Check whether you actually need the Deluxe UpgradeKit: The Deluxe UpgradeKit - Stefan Feld City Collection is listed for Hamburg, Amsterdam, New York City, and Marrakesh. If you own one of those, compare the kit against the coin set to avoid buying overlapping upgrades. Checkpoint: the upgrade kit is not a substitute for a title-specific coin set.
- Confirm coin handling in your game: Look at how often your game uses coins during play. Metal coins pay off most when currency changes hands constantly. If your game rarely touches coins, the upgrade adds less value. Common mistake: upgrading currency in a game that barely uses it.
- Buy only the matching set: Add the coin set for your specific title to the cart. If you own Nassau - SFCC 7, verify that the coin set option includes Nassau before checkout. Next step: if the listing does not confirm your game, contact the shop rather than guessing.
